The mail order giant Gun Sails is keeping the prices low, also for neoprene suits, and that already for years.
No matter if you are a tall guy or a slim gazelle, at Gun Sails everybody will find something suitable. We have tested if this is right.

Both suits, the Protec and Venus Protec, are made out of 100% Finemesh and especially stretchable neoprene material. Both suits are designed identically apart from the cut. They are very easy to get into, by just opening the velcro leg cuffs and stepping into the suit like into sneakers.
The reinforcements at the shin are made out of Jersey and are of a very good quality, whereas they could even be a bit thicker.
The plastic coated pads in the knee area give good protection against abrasion.
Unfortunately the zipper is quite difficult to reach, so it could become hard to close the suit by your own. Generally the suits are very soft and cuddly. With the Venus Protec it might be, however, that the material of the armpit area appears a bit bothering, and the Protec, the material of the shoulder area could be too soft.

The suits are generally very waterproof, there is no water inlet at the neck, only a bit of water could come in at the knee area.
In comparison to the competitive models, Gun Sails is offering the best quality/price ratio at all.

Le géant de la VPC casse les prix aussi sur le Néoprène, et ce, depuis des années. Que vous soyez un mâle infâme ou une jolie gazelle, Gun Sails s’occupe de vous avec le plus grand soin. Enfin, c’est ce qui est annoncé, il fallait donc vérifier ! Dans tous les deux cas, c’est du 100 % Fine-Mesh sur l’extérieur, avec une utilisation importante de Néoprène le plus flexible possible. Coupe mise à part, la construction des deux modèles est parfaitement identique. Pour l’enfilage, c’est très simple, on ouvre les échancrures aux chevilles et on entre dedans comme dans un pantalon de jogging. Les renforts en Jersey sur les tibias sont très soignés mais auraient pu être plus épais. Les renforts de genoux sont de belles enductions plastiques. Attention à la manipulation du zip qui n’est pas toujours évidente lorsqu’on est seul(e). La souplesse est de bon niveau, on ne note aucun gros point dur, même si le modèle féminin peut irriter sensiblement aux aisselles. On note de légères infiltrations d’eau derrière les genoux, mais à part ça, rien ne rentre par le cou, c’est donc très bien au niveau étanchéité générale. La souplesse de cette Protec est de très bonne facture, même si le mouvement autour des épaules aurait pu légèrement gagner en fluidité pour le surf.
Le meilleur rapport qualité / prix de cet essai.

The Model from 100% Mesh neoprene is the companion to get over the coldest winter. The suit fits very comfortably and adapts to the body perfectly, even if the materials used are not as stretchable others we compared (a bit more unyielding in manoeuvres).  In the water one appreciates this practically 100% waterproof model: only few water inlets within the neck area. The wall thickness, the material used and only a small water inlet make this model from the Gun Sails a reliable companion for the winter.

Combinaison Hiver PROTEC 2005 testée dans la presse spécialisée

Modèle épais 100 % Mesh pour affronter l’hiver, le vrai. Facile à porter, elle n’a pas la souplesse des matériaux des ténors du groupe (un poil moins souple dans les manœuvres), mais l’ensemble épouse parfaitement le corps: du grand confort ! C’est dans l’eau qu’on apprécie pleinement ce modèle quasiment étanche: quelques infiltrations seulement par le cou. L’épaisseur, le type de néoprène employé et la faible entrée d’eau font de la Gun un modèle Hiver très fiable.

- Petit manque de souplesse général par rapport à d’autres.
