Good, that each product
gets more than just one chance in the Surf tests !
During the first test rides, the Target seemed to be rather heavy and clumsy –
yet, powerful and somewhat backhanded with moderate loose leech and not too much
pull at the clew. Perhaps heavier surfers would trim it like this for freeriding,
if you want to achieve maximum performance in light and middle winds.
But the Gun Sails sail turns out to be much more versatile in the tests. For
those who are not afraid of higher trim powers and set the luff forcefully, a
significantly lighter and agile handling will be achieved by pulling the clew.
Shoved to luff, dive through – no problem for this reasonably priced rig. In the
centered trim the battens rotate easily around the mast – pulled flat the change
of sides is almost not noticeable. In this high-wind-set-up it does not only
feel more twitchy in the manoeuvres, but also lays more positive in the hands on
the speed track – still it never feels unpleasantly nervous.
Result: The Gun Sails rig offers a reasonably priced, well balanced
sail-mast-package with a huge range of use. With the Target you will have to do
without features, but a strong monofilm has been used.

Gut, dass jedes Produkt im surf-Test mehr als nur eine Chance bekommt.
Mit mäßigem Loose Leech und durchschnittlich viel Zug auf dem Schothorn wirkte
das Target bei den ersten Testfahrten recht schwer, aber kraftvoll und etwas
backhanded. So würden es vielleicht schwere Surfer zum Freeriden trimmen, wenn
man maximale Leistung bei Leicht- und Mittelwind erreichen will. Wenn man mit
der hinteren Hand kraftvoll den Gashahn aufdreht. Doch das Gun Segel zeigte sich
im weiteren Testverlauf weit vielfältiger. Wer die etwas höheren Trimmkräfte
nicht scheut und kräftig das Vorliek durchsetzt, wird schon bei mittlerem Zug am
Schothorn ein deutlich leichteres,
agiles Handlingsegel in den Händen halten.
Nach Luv schieben, drunter durchtauchen - — alles kein Problem für das günstige
Rigg. Im bauchigen Trimm rotieren die Latten bereits sehr gut um den Mast, flach
gezogen ist der Seitenwechsel kaum noch spürbar. In diesem ,,High-Wind-Set-up”
wirkt es nicht nur in Manövern agiler, sondern liegt auch beim Speedfahren etwas
lebendiger in den Händen, unangenehm nervös wirkt es aber auch dann nicht.
Fazit:
Das Gun Sails-Rigg bietet eine günstige, gut abgestimmte Segel-MastKombi mit
großem Einsatzbereich. Auf extravagante Features muss man beim Target zwar
verzichten, dafür wird recht starkes Monofilm verarbeitet.
